Photo Gallery: Olana Says Goodbye to Summer With a Sold-Out 200th Birthday Party
Supporters of The Olana Partnership gathered September 19 to celebrate the season and Frederic Church 200 with local chefs, winemakers, and brewers.

On Saturday, September 19, supporters of The Olana Partnership filled the East Lawn at Olana State Historic Site for a sold-out end-of-summer party, with the Hudson River Valley views Frederic Church built his home around as the backdrop. The evening celebrated Church's 200th birthday year and honored Andrew Arrick and Michael Hofemann, the couple behind FINCH Hudson, the Warren Street home and design store.
Olana cited the pair's commitment to the site and the Hudson community, their love of homes and gardens, and the way they work Church and fellow landscape painters into FINCH's merchandise. Arrick and Hofemann opened FINCH in May 2013 after leaving New York City careers in fashion and finance. Arrick spent two decades at houses including Yves Saint Laurent and Vera Wang.
Eight regional restaurants handled the food: The Aviary Kinderhook (chef Robert Howay), Chleo in Kingston (chef Charles Mathews), Four Corners, chef David Israelow's forthcoming Chatham restaurant, Isabela in Amenia (chef José Ramirez-Ruiz, formerly of Michelin-starred Semilla in Brooklyn), pretty to think so in Rhinebeck (chef Mark Margiotta), Serre at The Maker hotel in Hudson (chef Jonas Offenbach), Via Cassia in Hudson (chef Gaetano Arnone), and Stewart House 1883 Tavern in Athens (chef Rachel Bartlett). Drinks came from Hudson Dry, Klocke Estate in Claverack, Neverstill Wines, Nine Pin Cider Works of Albany, and Return Brewing, with Upstate Bar None behind the bar. Andalucía Project provided the music.
The bicentennial exhibition Frederic Church: Global Artist remains on view through October 25.
