The Connecticut-Asia Cultural Center in Norfolk hosts Tea Art Experience sessions on the first weekend of each month, and May 2 is here. The hour-long session covers the history of tea, the aesthetics and technique of traditional tea preparation, and, of course, the tasting itself.

The center is worth knowing about if you don't already. The property was originally the estate of physicist Michael Pupin, who bought the land in 1897 and called it his "real American home." In 1998 the Confucian Study Association purchased the property, and in 2018 renovation began to convert it into a cultural center, which opened to the public in 2022.

The center features Taoist, Confucian, and Buddhist cultural areas spread across three floors, with exhibits designed around the idea of cultural exchange as a path toward mutual understanding. Admission to the center itself is always free.

Seats for the tea session are limited and reservations close at 5pm the night before; after that it's first-come, first-served on site.

Connecticut-Asia Cultural Center, 207A Westside Rd., Norfolk, CT. Tickets and other session times at ctasiaculture.com.
