Faith No More's Roddy Bottum Fronts Queer Supergroup at Kaatsbaan

Kaatsbaan Cultural Park presents Crickets on the outdoor Meadow Stage on September 5, a concert and DJ dance party from musicians Roddy Bottum (Faith No More), Michael O'Neill (Men), and JD Samson (Le Tigre, Men). The trio's sound has been described, in their own words, as messy minimalist punk-funk-electro-rant-queer-guitar-synthesizer-drum-machine stories—Rolling Stone called it "a thumping new reprisal of toxic masculinity...delightful and delirious."

Opening the evening is The Bearded Ladies Cabaret's "AAAHHHHHH: A Sing/Scream/Shout-Along Cabaret," hosted by Jarbeaux, with special guest musicians and selected songs built for community singing rather than passive listening.

The evening is the second of three consecutive Labor Day-weekend Saturdays making up Kaatsbaan's 2026 Annual Festival, its tenth since 2020. The September 5 program leans theatrical earlier in the day too, opening at noon with a fire-lighting ceremony in the Meadow Field, followed by two installments of Playwrights' Platform—a new live anthology of boundary-pushing playwrights and staged readings, featuring work by Vickie Ramirez, Ty Defoe, Jeanette Harrison, Rose Jarboe, Sylvan Oswald, Jim Fletcher, Lucy Sexton, and Adrienne Truscott, including a piece honoring the late playwright Rachel Jendrzejewski.
